Hi there! Welcome to Concession. My name is Immelmann, and I created pretty much everything you see before you. You can learn about me, if you want, below.
Concession is a furry webcomic that uses a hybrid of humor and drama. It updates on Tuesdays and Fridays. I started it back in July '06, back when it was hosted on ComicGenesis. Good times! Except not really. In November '07 I moved to my own webspace with the domain concessioncomic.com, which is where I am now. Don't necessarily plan on moving anywhere else. Concession itself is run on a custom-built webcomic system called Lilith, which will be open for public download, uh, eventually.
In the beginning, the lines for Concession were drawn in ink and then scanned, colored in Photoshop, with text added in with Macromedia Flash. I eventually got a tablet and started drawing them entirely digitally, in Photoshop. Recently, though, I've been drawing Concession with a program called Easy Paint Tool SAI, which is pretty neat and draws in vectors. The coloring and text I do in Photoshop.
By the way, the handwritten font in the comic? That's called Immelfont, and it's custom made.
Beats me.
Seriously though... When I came up with the idea, I was working at a movie theatre. Really a dreadful place, to work, I'd recommend you all avoid it if at all possible. Anyways: the thing about a job like that, as I'm sure a lot of you already know, is that you meet a lot of very stupid, frustrating customers, and if you said what you really wanted to, to their face, you'd be fired. Or arrested.
So because of this, Joel was born as a sort of tool for me to say what I kept wanting to, without fear of, ya know, physical assault. The rest grew after that.
Of course by now, that aspect of the comic is very far from the foreground, and has been replaced with, well, plot. The plots, I'll have you know, don't have much to do with my personal life at all. So yeah.
